AIE announced today that it has selected Port Kembla as the site for its proposed Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) Import Terminal.

The Port Kembla Gas Terminal will have the ability to supply in excess of 100PJ of natural gas per year, which is sufficient to meet over 70 percent of NSW’s total gas needs.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed with NSW Ports enabling AIE to enter into the engineering and design phase of the Project.

A number of dignitaries were on hand to witness the signing, including the Hon. Niall Blair MLC, NSW Minister for Primary Industries, Minister for Regional Water, and Minister for Trade and Industry , the Lord Mayor of Wollongong, Councillor Gordon Bradbery AM, Shadow Minister for the Illawarra and Member for Keira, Ryan Park MP and Paul Scully MP, Member for Wollongong.

Representatives from a number of local business groups were also present, reflecting the strong local support for the proposed Project.
