FSRU PROCUREMENT UPDATE

Members of the AIE team have just returned from Singapore where they met with a number of the world’s leading suppliers of Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU), to source a suitable FSRU vessel for the Port Kembla Gas Terminal project.

The FSRU will be moored at Berth 101 within Port Kembla Harbour and receive liquified natural gas (LNG) from LNG carriers, which will dock at the port on a regular basis.

The FSRU is a vessel, similar to an LNG carrier, that stores LNG and then, when needed, regasifies the LNG for injection into the gas pipeline transmission network.

There are a number of FSRU’s currently available or under construction around the world. The AIE team will now determine which vessel best suits the project’s requirements, with the aim of delivering first gas into the NSW market by 2020.
