Contractor Information Session Held
Illawarra business organisation, i3net, invited AIE and Spiecapag Soletanche Bachy (SCSB), the recently announced construction contractors for the Port Kembla Gas Terminal, to present to members at an informal information session.
AIE’s Project Director, Keith Walker gave an overview of the Project and an update on the latest progress.
Samuel Pickett, SCSB’s General Manager of Utilities and Project Manager, Alexandre Beauvilain, then introduced their company and gave an overview of some of the expertise and skills that are expected to be sourced locally during the PKGT’s construction phase.
A local participation plan was a key part of the construction contract tender process and it is estimated about $76 million in subcontracts could be awarded to businesses in the region.
Attendees had the opportunity to ask questions during the presentations and then catch up with the teams more casually over beer and pizza at the Fraternity Club in Fairy Meadow.
A huge thanks to the i3net team for hosting the event and organising a capacity crowd.
Additional information sessions will be held in coming months to ensure local businesses are aware of opportunities to be involved with the PKGT.
